5 Activities to Incorporate into your Ski Vacation

The Vail Valley may be known for world-class skiing, but it’s equally as known for events off the slopes. Want excitement and thrill? Try snowmobiling at Camp Hale. Seeking peace and quiet? Take the Strawberry Park Express to McCoy Park for snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Whatever you want to try this winter, the Westin concierge can help you make your trip the best yet!

South of Beaver Creek sits Camp Hale, the 10th Mountain Division training area from World War II. From there, you can take snowmobiles to scenic viewing areas. Not up for an adventure? Don’t worry; you can ride with a buddy or take a mellower trip. While the snowmobile does most of the work, your neck, arms, and shoulders will most likely feel sore the following day so be sure to book a massage in advance.

Located at the top of the Strawberry Park Express (lift 12), McCoy Park offers approximately 20 miles of snowshoe and cross-country ski trails. Bring your own gear or rent from the Nordic Center located at the base of the lift. Lift ticket cost are $42 for adults and $29 for children or use your ski pass. Once you get to the top, enjoy the views and stop in the yurt with your packed lunch. From there you’ll be only a few minutes from the Overlook with spectacular views of New York Mountain.
