Blood Sugar Stability | Even Energy
Keeping blood sugar in balance is the key to sustained energy, lowering stress and overall feelings of well-being. When our blood sugar is low our stress hormone (cortisol) spikes. Prolonged stress can lead to deleterious impact on our health. Have you ever felt light-headed, anxious or foggy and realized you were actually hungry (HANGRY)?? If so, your cortisol was pumping and you were in a state of hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). In order to avoid imbalanced blood sugar we need to add fiber, healthy fats and protein to every meal and snack. Examples include scrambled eggs, mixed veggies and a side of avocado for breakfast, veggies and hummus or an apple with nut butter for snacks and a salad with salmon or chicken and a dressing of extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar for lunches and dinners. As an added benefit your athletic performance will soar as your body is better able to push harder and recover better with more even energy!
